The symbiotic relationship between virtualization and the datacenter provide two of the major components of cloud computing. In the second of this two-part series, Digital Realty Trust CTO, Jim Smith and Mark Monroe of Energetic Consulting will provide an in-depth overview of the role played by virtualization within the datacenter to facilitate the growing population of cloud-based applications. During this webinar Jim and Mark will examine and explain a number of issues including:

Presenters:

Jim Smith is the Chief Technology Officer at Digital Realty Trust where he oversees datacenter development, the company's efficiency & green strategy, and power procurement & energy management. In the past three years, Jim and the Digital Realty Trust team have delivered more than 75MW of UPS capacity on over 40 datacenter projects in North America and Europe. This portfolio includes the industry's first LEED Gold certified Datacenter. Jim has a BSc in Chemistry from Fort Lewis College and an MBA from London Business School.


Mark Monroe is an expert in Fortune 200-corporate sustainability, data center efficiency, and Information Technology (IT). Mark worked for Sun Microsystems for 16 years, with responsibility for internal, customer, and industry thought leadership on sustainability and energy efficiency topics. His 28 years in the IT industry have included experience in data center design and operations, application and system design, service level management, process design and analysis, professional services, sales, government and commercial program management, and outsourcing management. Prior to Sun, Mark worked at Data General, Unisys, and StorageTek.
